“Celebrating International Lasallian Days for Peace while touching the lives of the less fortunate families in the society.” In line with the mission of our founder, St. John Baptist De La Salle, which emphasizes the importance of service to others, La Salle School Homa Bay organized a successful charity event on Saturday, 19th October 2024. This event was held at the Shauri Yako area in Homabay Town, and it demonstrated the commitment of our school community to supporting the underprivileged and nurturing values of love, care, and compassion in our learners. The event was a collaborative effort, bringing together our dedicated staff, learners, and parents, all working hand in hand to make a significant impact in the lives of over 80 families in the Shauri Yako community. Donations included essential household items such as foodstuffs, clothing, and educational materials for children, all aimed at uplifting the lives of those in need. We were privileged to have key partners who helped make this event a success. These partners include: Homabay County Partnerships and Relations Directorate: Provided logistical support and helped facilitate the coordination of the event with local authorities. Equity Afya: Offered free medical check-ups and health consultations to members of the community, ensuring
that they not only received material support but also had access to essential healthcare services. Catag: Assisted with identification and mobilization of the needy and vulnerable families that needed support as well as organizing for the venue. ABL Bookshop: Donated learning materials for the children, reinforcing the importance of education within the community. At La Salle School Homabay, we believe in holistic education that goes beyond academic excellence. This charity event was a significant opportunity to instill the virtues of love, care, and empathy in our learners. By actively participating in the event, our learners experienced firsthand the impact of giving and supporting the less fortunate, thus embracing the core values of our founder. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the partners, parents, learners, and staff who contributed to the success of this event. This act of service not only helped improve the lives of over 80 families but also strengthened the sense of community at La Salle School Homabay. We remain committed to our mission of holistic education and look forward to more initiatives that enable our learners to grow as compassionate and responsible citizens.
